Baku, Azerbaijan, Dec. 7
By Azad Hasanli – Trend:
The divers searching for the three oilmen, missing since Dec. 4 after a strong storm hit the Oil Rocks offshore field, have suspended their work, said Balamirza Alirahimov, chief engineer at Azneft, a production union of Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR.
Earlier, a strong storm washed a booth on the platform #501 of the Oil Rocks down into the sea. At the moment of the storm, there were three oilmen in the booth – Javad Khudaverdiyev, Bahman Jafarov and Rovshan Mammadov.
Alirahimov said the underwater search has been suspended, but ships are still looking for the missing oilmen.
The search for the missing Oil Rocks employees involved a helicopter of the Emergency Situations Ministry, a fire-fighting vessel of the Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company, as well as a rescue ship and a towboat.
