The specialized state enterprise in Navoi region of Uzbekistan has completed construction of the Kuksaroy reservoir with a volume of 7.5 million cubic meters of water, the company's management told Trend.

The reservoir located on an area of ​​78 hectares will regulate the seasonal flow of mountain rivers and supply water to nearly a thousand hectares of irrigated areas in the region.

About 12 million cubic meters of water will be annually released from the reservoir for agriculture needs. Currently, the reservoir is filled by over 50 percent.

The cost of construction of the water reservoir totaled 21 billion soms. The official exchange rate on Dec.11 is 2765.20 soms/$1.

The project was financed from the state budget.

It is expected to implement a pilot project on creating intensive fruit farming covering an area of 100 hectares near the Kuksaroy water reservoir in the next two years.

The cost of the project nears $2 million.

It is planned to expand the area of gardens to 500 hectares in the future. Moreover, it is planned to build a canning factory for processing fruits for export there.
