Iran’s long-range ballistic Missile dubbed Emad is a quite conventional weapon, Defense Minister Brigadier-General Hossein Dehqan said, IRNA news agency reported.
He said test-firing the surface-to- surface Emad Missile conveyed message that Iran acts based on its national interests and does not accept any restrictions regarding its missile program.
He further touched upon Iran’s nuclear program and said the world has accepted Iran as a nuclear country.
On 11 October Iran test fired its latest long-range missile dubbed Emad which triggered a negative reaction from the West.
Following the test-fire several Western sources claimed that Tehran violated a UN Security Council resolution by test-firing Emad missile which is capable of carrying a nuclear warhead.
The Resolution 1929, prohibits Iran from testing and developing ballistic missiles capable of delivering nuclear weapons, however, Iran has never considered itself bound by Resolution 1929, because it considers the UN sanctions illegal and based on false allegations regarding its nuclear program, she underlined.
Under international restrictions, Iran has turned to domestic talents to improve its military power, frequently unveiling new products.
The country’s focus on smart munitions, light attack craft, mines, and ballistic missiles, are part of the asymmetrical conflict war policy the country would rely on in the event of conflict with a global military power.
Since 1992, Iran has been manufacturing its own tanks, armored personnel carriers, missiles, radar, boats, submarines and fighter aircraft. Iran also unveiled its first long-range Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) in 2010.
