By Khalid Kazimov – Trend:

Iran will remove all of its active centrifuges within the coming week, Iran’s atomic chief said.

“After the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) adopted a resolution, we started removing active centrifuges and they will be dismantled within the next week,” Fars news agency quoted the director of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, Ali Akbar Salehi, as saying.

During a televised interview with Iranian state TV IRIB1, he pointed out that inactive centrifuges have already been removed after President Hassan Rouhani’s order.

He also said that Iran is expected to ship nine tons of its uranium to Russia in coming days.

Salehi said Iran has already imported 137 tons of yellowcake from Russia which is stored in Russia.

The IAEA Board of Governors adopted a resolution Dec. 15, with a view to pave a way for implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA, aka nuclear deal) clinched between Tehran and the World powers in July.

The resolution brought an end to a 12-year probe into Tehran’s nuclear program, acknowledging that the Islamic Republic’s nuclear activity is peaceful – a key step towards lifting international sanctions on the country.

Iran expects the deal to be implemented in the coming month, enabling the country to trade through international financial systems, receive $100 billion of its frozen assets, and resume oil trade on international markets.
