The suicide bomber on a motorbike tried to enter the National Database and Registration Authority and, once the attempt failed, he blew himself up near the main entrance of the building, Irna reported with the reference to The Express Tribune.
The newspaper added, citing a doctor from the district headquarters hospital, that more than 40 people were injured in the attack, with eight of them in a critical condition, Sputniknews reported.
A Taliban splinter group, Jamatul Ahrar, claimed responsibility for the suicide bombing.
The Taliban is a violent extremist group seeking to impose what they term as Sharia law in Afghanistan and Pakistan, and known for its numerous atrocities against authorities and civilians.
