At least one person is feared dead and 21 injured in northeastern India after a 6.8-magnitude earthquake struck the border region with Myanmar, Sputnik reported,

US Geological Survey reported that a 6.8 magnitude earthquake struck the city of Imphal in India near the Myanmar border. It has been reported that the quake was 57 kilometres deep.

"One dead and eight injured in Imphal," tweeted the Asian News international (ANI) service before updating its tally to 21 injured.

The city of Imphal is the the capital of the Indian state of Manipur with population over 400,000 people. There have been reports of multiple destructions on social media.
