Republic of Djibouti, located in Eastern Africa, broke off diplomatic relations with Iran, the RIA Novosti reported Jan. 6 citing the Saudi TV channel Al Arabiya.

“Djibouti ceases diplomatic relations with Iran,” said Al Arabiya.

Earlier it was reported that Djibouti, along with Sudan, Bahrain, Kuwait and the UAE joined the Saudi Arabia’s diplomatic action against Iran after a group of angry Iranian protestors stormed Saudi embassy in Tehran following the Kingdom's execution of Nimr al-Nimr, a prominent Shia cleric on Jan. 2.
