A preventive measure in the form of detention was chosen towards the chairman of the Council of Elders of Baku’s Nardaran settlement Natig Karimov upon the decision of the Sabail District Court Jan. 7.
Karimov was arrested by the Azerbaijani law enforcement bodies Jan. 7. A criminal case was filed.
On Nov. 26, five members of a criminal group, operating under the guise of religion, were killed during a police operation in the township of Nardaran, some 25 km northeast of Baku. Two police officers were also killed in the standoff.
Fourteen members of the criminal group were arrested along with the group’s ringleader Taleh Baghirov.
