Azerbaijani chess player Kenan Izzet shares the leadership at the 2016 Australian Chess Championships in Melbourne together with Australian Bobby Cheng.
The Azerbaijani chess player will take on Australian Anton Smirnov in the 9th round.
The 2016 Australian Chess Championships are presented by the Melbourne Chess Club – Celebrating 150 Years, and supported by the City of Yarra.
The 11 round Swiss event features a $14 000 prize fund and brings together 34 chess players.
