The death of the actor Jean Marais, who played fantômas in the film trilogy of the same name Comedy, plundered unknown, reports the French newspaper Le Croix. With its gravestones in the cemetery in Vallauris took bronze figure, depicting the head of the beast from "beauty and the beast" (1946).
The missing sculpture was found on January 7. As notes the edition, it weighs 35 pounds, and its height is about 60 centimeters. Its cost is estimated at more than four thousand euros.
Bronze casting is created on the basis of not surviving the Mare, who was very fond of art sculpture. Just on the grave of the actor was found two such figures, as well as the bronze mask in the form of a lion's head and a large winged Sphinx with horns.
"This is not just a sculpture, they represent the masterpieces of French cinema, a special legacy. I think the kidnapping figures offensively for Jean Marais and Jean Cocteau (Director of "beauty and the beast" — approx. "The tape.ru")", — said the mayor of Vallauris, Michelle Saluki. He promised to strengthen the protection of the cemetery.
Jean Marais played over a hundred roles in movies. In the USSR it was known as the son of a trilogy Andre Unable, which includes the film "Fantomas", "Fantomas has raged" and "Fantomas against Scotland Yard". Partner Mar in the trilogy were made by Louis de Funes. Other famous paintings of the actor — "the Count of Monte Cristo", "Orpheus", "the Iron mask" and "Les Miserables".
