Seven people were hospitalized Jan.13 in the wake of the terrorist attack in Istanbul Jan.12, said Minister of Internal Affairs of Turkey Efkan Ala during a meeting with his German counterpart Thomas de Maiziere in Ankara, the Turkish TRT Haber TV channel reported Jan.13.

On Jan.12, an explosion hit Sultanahmet Square in Istanbul, which killed 10 people, 8 of them were citizens of Germany.

It was reported that a suicide bomber blew himself up near the central mosque when tourists were passing by. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan called the blast a terrorist attack carried out by a Syrian citizen, who belongs to a terrorist group “Islamic State” (aka IS, ISIS or ISIL).

The Turkish minister said that all the hospitalized are citizens of Germany and Turkey.

He also said that one suspected of involvement in the terrorist attack on the Sultanahmet Square in Istanbul was detained Jan.13 in Turkey.
