The United State attaches special importance to developing cooperation with Azerbaijan, said Senior Director for European Affairs at the US National Security Council Charles Kupchan as he met with Azerbaijani foreign minister Elmar Mammadyarov.
Mr. Mammadyarov hailed partnership between Azerbaijan and the U.S. in various fields, particularly energy security and fight against terrorism.
The Minister spoke of ongoing negotiations on the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. He stressed the importance of ensuring the withdrawal of Armenian armed forces from the occupied Azerbaijani territories, saying this will help solve the problem and restore peace and stability in the region.
They also discussed regional and global developments.
