An earthquake measuring 6.7 on the Richter scale jolted 51 km SE of Shizunai, Japan at 03:25:00 GMT on Thursday, the U.S. Geological Survey said, Xinhua reported.
The epicenter, with a depth of 47.0 km, was initially determined to be at 42.0 degrees north latitude and 142.8 degrees east longitude.
