By Fatih Karimov - Trend:

A special page for elections was launched in official website of Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Iranians are getting ready to elect both law makers for parliament and clerics for the Assembly of Experts on February 26.

Less than two months remain till the upcoming elections for parliament and the Assembly of Experts in Iran. The created webpage is going to cover Khamenei’s viewpoints on the election.

Comprised of 86 Islamic scholars (Mujtahids) the Assembly of Experts is an influential body in charge of supervising the supreme leader and organizations under his direct control as well as electing a successor for him.

In a speech on Jan. 9 Khamenei urged people to show a high turnout at the upcoming elections, saying the elections strengthen the system and increases the credibility and honor of the nation.

He urged people to refrain from casting votes in those candidates who may act in the favor of the US.

Khamenei further accused the US of perpetrating the post-election unrests in Iran in 2009 and said the unsuccessful protests were aimed at toppling the Islamic Republic.

He added that Iranians should remain vigilant and stand against the US.
