The 53rd Antalya International Film Festival will be held this year between October 16 and 23.

At a recent press conference in Istanbul, Antalya Mayor Menderes Türel said they added two special film selections to the festival program related to the current political situation.

The Golden Orange Labor Awards will be presented this year to dubbing artists Altan Karındaş and Toron Karacaoğlu, and the Honorary Award will be presented to director Feyzi Tuna and actor Yılmaz Gruda. The Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to veteran singer Emel Sayın.

The Mayor said the National Feature Film Competition has an award of 100,000 Turkish Liras, while the International Feature Film Competition award is 50,000 liras. This year some 140 films will be presented at the Festival.

French actor Gerard Depardieu will be the guest of the festival this year and other guests would announced in the coming days, the Mayor stated, adding that the goal was to “make Antalya a city of the cinema industry.”

Along with Turkey, among the festival participants are Israel, Spain, Georgia, Bulgaria, France, Italy, Belgium, Poland and the Netherlands.

One of the most prestigious cinema events of Turkey’s arts and culture scene, the 53rd International Antalya Film Festival, this year will be held with the support of Antalya Metropolitan Municipality, the Festival is organized by the Antalya Culture and Art Foundation (AKSAV). Antalya International Film Festival, held annually since 1963 is the most important International film festival in Turkey. Taking place amongst the palm lined boulevards, and sun drenched avenues of beautiful city of Antalya, the Festival will offer numerous exhibitions, retrospectives and opportunities to discover new trends in World Cinema and it is determined to be the best yet in 2016.
