Azerbaijan`s Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov has today met Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense of the U.S. Michael Carpenter.
They exchanged views on cooperation between the two countries in the field of defense, counter terrorism and peacekeeping operations.
Michael Carpenter hailed Azerbaijan’s contributions to peacekeeping operation in Afghanistan, as well as the reconstruction work in the country and transit means provided for the U.S. and its allies.
Elmar Mammadyarov spoke of the current state of negotiations to solve the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict, saying Armenia undermine the settlement process.
They also discussed the prospects for the Azerbaijan–US relations, as well as the regional issues of mutual concern.
