Ethiopia-based Capital newspaper has published an article headlined "Azerbaijan - land of diversity and tolerance".
The article says that Azerbaijan is known as the land of tolerance at a time when the modern world faces religious and sectarian conflicts.
"Azerbaijan, which is located at the crossroads of East and West, where various civilizations and cultures meet, is one of the tolerant and multicultural countries in the world," the article says.
The article hails Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev's declaring 2016 the Year of Multiculturalism in the country.
The article also stressed the role of Azerbaijan-hosted international events, including the World Intercultural Dialogue, Baku International Humanitarian Forums and the 7th Global Forum of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations, in promoting tolerance and cultural diversity in the world.
"Baku also hosts prestigious sporting events as Chess Olympiad, first European Games, Formula 1 Grand Prix of Europe."
The article highligts Pope Francis' visit to Azerbaijan, saying the Pontiff hailed co-existence of Muslim, Jewish and Christian communities in the country.
