Baku, Azerbaijan, March 11
By Khalid Kazimov – Trend:

President of the Federation of German Wholesale, Foreign Trade and Services (BGA) Anton Boerner said that his country is waiting for the sanctions on Iran to be halted, to enter the country's market.

Speaking at a press conference in Berlin, he pointed out that Iran and Germany had been in close trade relations for many decades, IRNA news agency reported March 11.
“The fact is that we have had exquisite relations with Iran for one hundred years. We have always conducted good transactions with Iran. We hope to get back to the good old days once the sanctions are removed, the days when trade between the two countries was booming,” he said.

Boerner’s positive remarks about the future follow a recent report by Germany’s Federal Statistics Office which showed that Germany’s export to Iran improved by 30 percent last year to reach €2.4 billion.

Traditionally, Germany has been Iran’s biggest European trade partner.
The rise in last year’s export was a 10-year record and was mainly related to machines, agricultural products, and pharmaceuticals.

The Association of German Chambers of Industry and Commerce has announced that it is likely that in five years, the country’s export to Iran will rise fivefold.

Boener further stated that in 2005, Germany’s export to Iran hit €5 billion, hoping to redeem that number once more.

"At the start of 2014, some of the sanctions were eased so insurance for ship transport and the delivery of car and aircraft parts were allowed," said Volker Treier, of Germany's DIHK chambers of trade and commerce.

The group 5+1 (the United States, China, Russia, Britain, France and Germany) are seeking to negotiate an agreement with the Islamic Republic on its nuclear program. Iran says that any agreement is bound to the removal of all sanctions.
