Baku, Azerbaijan, March 16

The Iranian Interior Ministry spokesman Hoseinali Amiri has said that anti-revolutionaries in the provinces of Kurdistan, Kermanshah, and Sistan-Baluchestan have surrendered to the government forces last week.
Amiri made the remarks at a press conference in Tehran, Fars news agency reported March 16, without providing any further details about the people.
Meanwhile, Iran’s Intelligence Minister Mahmoud Alavi said on February 14 that the ministry had dismantled a terrorist group in south eastern province of Sistan and Baluchestan.
The operations took place on Feb. 5 and Feb. 11, the minister said, adding that several terrorists were arrested in the operations.
In recent months, extremist groups have conducted several attacks against local police offices in Iran. The groups claim they're fighting against the Iranian government for protection of Sunni residents of the province.
One Iranian police officer was killed, and two other injured in an armed attack on Jan. 21. Four police officers were killed in similar incidents in the city of Saravan last October.
