It would be nice if a woman becomes Georgia’s next president, said Giorgi Margvelashvili, the country’s incumbent president.

He made the remarks at a meeting dedicated to women’s participation in politics in the country, Novosti Georgia reported March 16.

Margvelashvili said that in the administration systems of developed countries the women representation stands at 40 percent, adding that Georgia should aspire to achieve such an indicator.

He noted that in the countries with a high participation of women, politics is “more stable, and oriented to qualified solutions.”

Earlier, Margvelashvili declared 2015 the year of women in Georgia.

Giorgi Margvelashvili won the presidential election on October 27, 2013. The next presidential elections in the country are due in 2018.
