By Fatih Karimov – Trend:

Iran has established 15 centers for intercity air service, using small jets, aiming to facilitate public transport, said Yaqoub Entesari, an official at the Iranian presidential office’s science and technology department.

Entesari said necessary infrastructure has been established in 15 provinces so more infrastructure is being established in 15 other provinces, Iran’s Mehr news agency reported on April 7.

The plan will be implemented in two phases, he said.

The move will help the country to ease the air pollution, which the country suffers from due to old public transport cars.

Massoumeh Ebtekar, head of Iran’s Environmental Protection Organisation, said on March 21 that the administration pays special attention to reduce air pollution in big cities.

The public transport fleet should be renovated, she said, adding that 30 percent of vehicles in the fleet are old.
