Baku, Azerbaijan, Apr.7

By Maksim Tsurkov – Trend:

All required licenses have been received for carrying out direct flights between Baku and Mashhad city of Iran by Iran’s Ata Airlines, an official from the company told Trend on Apr.7.

In order to open flights between the two cities, first of all, it is necessary to sign a cooperation agreement between Ata Airlines that will carry out this flight and Azerbaijani and Iranian companies that will organize the tours, said Mehdi Beyane, deputy director general of Ata Airlines for trade issues.

Baku-Mashhad-Baku flight will be established only for transporting pilgrims, he said.

“Iranian and Azerbaijani companies that will organize tours should create necessary conditions for the passengers.”

Beyane added that carrying out the flights depends on resolving two issues.

“First of all, the companies – the tour organizers – of the two countries should enter into agreements with each other,” he said, adding that another issue is related to defining the ticket prices which remains unresolved.

The deputy director added that Ata Airlines is ready to cooperate with Azerbaijani companies which will organize the tours for pilgrims.

Previously, a document on opening Baku-Mashhad flight was signed during the official visit of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani to Azerbaijan.

Opening of this flight will allow to establish bilateral trade relations between Azerbaijan and the north-eastern provinces of Iran, including the Razavi Khorasan province.
