"The specialists are currently working with the foreign citizens from the Dalniy Vostok trawler. The work is underway to check their identity. Besides, we are questioning the foreigners and will hold them administratively liable for illegal work in Russia," a spokesman said.
On Tuesday, the crew members of the trawler, including 37 Russians and 26 foreigners, were taken to Sakhalin, in Russia’s Far East.
Administrative arrest warrants have been issued to all the foreign sailors who were onboard the sunken vessel. They have been detained for not crossing the border.
After all the necessary procedures involving diplomats are completed, the foreigners will be issued temporary documents and expelled from the country.
The Dalniy Vostok freezer trawler wrecked in the Sea of Okhotsk some 250 kilometers south of the city of Magadan on April 2. The trawler is owned by Magellan LLC and its home port is Nevelsk, the Sakhalin region.
There were 132 people onboard the vessel. According to the latest reports, 56 people died, 63 were rescued and another 13 are still missing. Earlier reports said the citizens of Myanmar, Vanuatu, Latvia and Ukraine were onboard the trawler
