By Rufiz Hafizoglu – Trend:

Some 15 Chinese citizens intending to join the rebels in Syria have been detained in Turkey, the Turkish newspaper Milliyet said Apr.8.

The Chinese citizens have been detained in the Turkish province of Gaziantep. The persons who had to pass Chinese citizens through the Turkish-Syrian border were also detained.

The detained Chinese citizens will be deported to their homeland.

Over the last two weeks, more than 30 foreign nationals who were going to join the rebels in Syria were detained in general in Turkey.

Earlier, the Turkish authorities said the intelligence agencies in the European countries don’t provide them with information about the persons who are suspected of terrorist activities, and as a result, these individuals come to Turkey, from where they cross into Syria.

The “Islamic State” (IS, formerly ISIL or ISIS) penetrated Syria’s territory in 2013. The organization said at the time it refuses to take the oath of Al-Qaeda and declared “a holy war” against all groups and government forces in Syria.

Strengthening of the IS in Syria allowed it to return to Iraq, deploying military actions against government forces there.

In late June of 2014, the IS announced about the creation of the ‘Islamic Caliphate’ on the territories under its control in Iraq and Syria. In turn, Iraqi authorities asked the international community for help in fighting the IS.
