A statue of outstanding Azerbaijani statesman and politician Aziz Aliyev will be erected in Makhachkala, the capital of Dagestan Republic, Russian Federation.
A garden will be built to surround the statue, Makhachkala city administration said. The project will be completed by next spring.
Aziz Aliyev was the secretary of the Azerbaijan SSR Supreme Soviet. He served as Azerbaijani Minister of Health in different years. In 1942 Joseph Stalin appointed Aliyev Secretary of the Dagestan Regional Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, the highest authority in the Dagestan ASSR.
