On November 22, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov had a telephone conversation with British Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs Boris Johnson initiated by the UK, according to the Russian Embassy in the UK of GB and Northern Ireland.
During the conversation, Boris Johnson touched upon the current state of the bilateral agenda, prompting Sergey Lavrov to emphasize that the only way to put the relations between the two countries back on track is to engage in mutually respectful and equal dialogue.
The discussion also covered recent developments in and around Syria. Mr Lavrov stressed the importance of avoiding steps that could lead to an escalation in the conflict, as well as practical steps to separate the Syrian opposition from extremists.
Mr Lavrov and Mr Johnson also discussed efforts in resolving the crises in Yemen, Libya and Ukraine, as well as the Cyprus settlement.
