A spectacular ice festival is accepting tourists from over the world arranged in the northern Chinese city of Harbin.

Over 100,000 people a day visited this year's Harbin Ice and Snow Festival, often described as 'the world's largest winter festival', which is open for around 100 days of the year, reports the People's Daily Online.

Harbin's best ice and snow carvers have been putting the finishing touches to their work during a month soft opening and now the grand festival has opened to the public.

The Harbin International Ice and Snow Sculpture Festival is an annual winter festival that takes place with a theme in Harbin, Heilongjiang, China, and now is the largest ice and snow festival in the world. At first participants in the festival were mainly Chinese, however it has since become an international festival and competition. The festival includes the world's biggest ice sculptures.
