Crude oil inventories and imports in the U.S. increased for the week ending January 27, the country's Energy Information Administration (EIA) announced Wednesday.
Stocks of crude rose by 6.5 million barrels, or 1.3 percent, from the previous week to reach 494.8 million barrels for the week ending January 27.
Gasoline inventories increased by 3.9 million barrels, or 1.5 percent, from the previous week to reach 257.1 million barrels for the week ending January 27, the EIA data showed.
Imports rose by 480,000 barrels per day to 8.29 million barrels a day, during the same period.
Domestic oil production, however, fell by 46,000 barrels a day to 8.91 million barrels per day, according to the EIA.
