The Civil Aviation Committee of the Kazakh Ministry of Investment and Development has asked the tour operators to suspend flights to Egypt, Assel Nurkebaeva, the President of the Association of Travel Agencies of Kazakhstan, told RIA Novosti.

A Russian passenger plane crashed in Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, killing all 224 people aboard, on Oct. 31.

Russian state media reported that many of the 217 passengers on Kogalymavia Flight 9268 were Russians returning from vacation. The passenger manifest included names of 17 children but Russian officials said there were 25 of them on board the ill fated flight. There were seven crew members.

"This issue has already been discussed for a long time,” she said. “The matter has been decided in view of the security of Kazakh citizens.”

She said that the flights will remain suspended until the cause of the crash was clarified.

"If it turns out that it was not a terrorist act, the flights will be resumed," she added.
