Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and EU Foreign Policy Chief Federica Mogherini are to arrange high-profile meetings between Tehran and EU members.
The two leaders are to meet in New York on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Majid Takht Ravanchi said, ISNA news agency reported September 7.
The UN General Assembly this year will start September 15 at the UN headquarters in New York.
The Iran-EU talks are to follow an initiative made public during Mogherini’s visit to Tehran last month.
A new round of talks are to start between Iran and the EU at a high-profile level, Mogherini told reporters in Tehran then.
After going through two stages of critical and comprehensive talks, Iran and EU will start holding a series of high-profile talks soon, Zarif reiterated in the same press conference with Mogherini.
He explained that the meetings would kick off with deputy foreign ministers and then continue with foreign ministers.
Representing the EU, Mogherini played a vital role in the Iran nuclear talks with reached a comprehensive conclusion on July 14.
Iran and world powers have set the conclusion as a good omen for trying a broader range of topics to negotiate.
