Azerbaijan and Turkey will speed up the construction of Trans-Anatolian gas pipeline (TANAP), Kenan Yavuz, the head of SOCAR Turkey Enerji, said in an interview with the Turkish newspaper Aksam.

Yavuz said that at present, TANAP is one of the major energy projects.

As for the Russian gas supplies to Turkey, Yavuz said that he does not believe in the cessation of gas supply by Moscow.

TANAP project envisages transportation of gas of Azerbaijan’s Shah Deniz field from Georgian-Turkish border to the western borders of Turkey. The project’s total cost is estimated at $10 billion.

Currently, the shareholders of TANAP are: the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) – 58 percent, Botas – 30 percent and BP – 12 percent.
