The Iranian parliament held a closed session with the country’s nuclear negotiators so that the MPs may pose their questions regarding the recent framework agreement with world powers.

The nuclear team consists of Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) chief Aliakbar Salehi, AEOI spokesman Behrooz Kamalvandi, Deputy Foreign Minister in Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Hassan Qashqavi, and Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Marzieh Afkham.

Parliament Board of Directors member Zargham Sadeghi said that the team are going to brief the parliament on the recent nuclear talks which were held in Lausanne, Switzerland, IRNA news agency reported April 7.

The latest talks by Iran and the group P5+1 (the US, UK, France, Russia, China, and Germany) ended in a framework agreement on April 2.

Zarif and European Union foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini, who also attended the talks, read a final statement at the end of the 8-day talks which clarified the objectives of a final deal which is to be reached by July 1.

The deal would limit Tehran’s nuclear activities beyond the NPT requirements to ensure the great powers of the peacefulness of the country’s nuclear program, and in return it would lift all international sanctions on the Islamic Republic’s economy.
