First lady of Azerbaijan, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva who is visiting France has met President of the country Francois Hollande at the Elysee Palace on September 3.

The sides expressed satisfaction with the successful development of bilateral relations between the two countries. French President Francois Hollande thanked the first lady for her contributions to the cultural events organized in Paris. Noting the great potential of bilateral relations between the two countries, Francois Hollande said that France and Azerbaijan have developed successful relations in the economic, energy, information and communication technologies, the cosmic industry and agricultural fields.

Hailing France's interest in expanding ties with Azerbaijan, Francois Hollande expressed confidence in further successful development of bilateral relations.

First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva stressed that the Azerbaijani-French relations are on the level of strategic partnership, adding deepening of relations is an important aspect of the country's foreign policy.

Noting a number of projects have been implemented recent years in terms of better promoting Azerbaijan in France, Mehriban Aliyeva said that the opening ceremony of the "Azerbaijani town" in Paris, on September 3, is one of the events of this series.

Mehriban Aliyeva said that such cultural projects have already taken place in France's 25 regions, adding more than 10 Azerbaijani and French cities have established relations of friendship and brotherhood.

Touching upon the France's role as a co-chair of OSCE Minsk Group in solving the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Mehriban Aliyeva expressed her hope that France will continue its position on the resolution of the conflict within the framework of international law and the territorial integrity of the country.

Expressing his country's position in the peaceful settlement of the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, President Francois Hollande said that France is interested in resolving the conflict.
