The meeting of the UN special envoy for Syria and the head of the country’s government delegation to the Syria reconciliation talks ended, Sputnik reported Friday.
The negotiations between Staffan de Mistura and Bashar Jaafari lasted 2.5 hours.
In December, the UN Security Council adopted a resolution on settling the Syrian conflict, which reaffirmed the goals of the Vienna agreements to bring the entire spectrum of political groups in the crisis-torn country to the negotiating table and stated that the next round of the talks would take place in January, 2016.
The talks between the Syrian government and the country's opposition are taking place on Friday evening.
