Baku, Azerbaijan, June 18

By Maksim Tsurkov – Trend:

The European Union of Gymnastics (UEG) and the Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation discussed the issue of refereeing at the Baku 2015 European Games, said the UEG President Georges Guelzec on June 18.

He made the remarks at a press conference in Baku.

“We met with the representatives of the Azerbaijani Gymnastics Federation and discussed the issue of refereeing,” he said. “As is known, in the rhythmic gymnastics, the judges are divided into two categories: some of them assess the complexity of the elements, others – their execution.”

Guelzec added that the UEG accepted the request of the Azerbaijani side.

He said the UEG has excellent relations with the Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation, and the sides have no misunderstandings.

Earlier, the Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation discussed actions against biased refereeing in the rhythmic gymnastics team events, and underscored that it is ready to present evidence of biased decisions of judges towards Azerbaijani athletes.
