Baku-APA. Authorities in the northern Mexican state of Tamaulipas say soldiers have killed six presumed criminals who shot at them near the border with the United States, APA reports quoting Associated Press.
The Tamaulipas state government says in a statement released Saturday that gunmen traveling in two trucks opened fire on soldiers patrolling a rural area of the community of Matamoros across the border from Brownsville, Texas.
The statement says the soldiers returned fire, killing six of the gunmen.
None of the soldiers were reported wounded or killed.
Authorities have not released the identities of the suspected criminals who died, nor have they said whether they were believed to be members of a known criminal group.
