The trip of president of the French Senate Gerard Larcher to Iran is a powerful signal, Nathalie Goulet, French senator said.
"For the last 6 years I have been arguing and pleading for deepest relations with Iran. The trip of the president of the senate is a powerful signal. He comes according to the protocol just after the president of the Republic. More parliamentary relations it's more regional cooperation, while It's also the easiest way to win the heard of the French population," Nathalie Goulet told Trend Dec.22.
She went on to add that parliamentary relations are a direct contact with the people without the weight of administration.
“Among the French MPs, I am without any doubt the one who travelled the most often to Iran during the last 7 years. We can imagine a lot of cultural cooperation and economic, too,” Goulet said. “At this juncture, the question of the Iranian banking system is crucial. Iran has been out for 40 years from the international network, and this network has to be rebuilt as well as the trust in the country.”
Gerard Larcher met with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in Tehran December 20.
“I am sure that this trip will bring another image of Iran , the real Iran after so many years of sanctions and extreme positions, after using provocation as defense system,” Goulet, who is the vice chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee said.
“Iran has his own Devils but the country deserves to be known as the most important civilization,” she said. “The current political power played the nuclear issue extremely wisely and has to win now a new image to conform to the confidence that international community has put in Iran. Iran will have to face democratic issues. The real challenge is definitely this one and the game is just starting.”
According to French senator, Iran is under the limelight. “I hope for the best ...But the internal political agenda may jeopardize Rouhani's work,” she said. “Let's wait and see.”
