Italy’s Specchio Economico magazine has issued Azerbaijani Ambassador to the country Vagif Sadigov’s interview on Baku 2015 the first European Games.
The Ambassador highlighted the modern development of the country, state care for youth and sports, expansion of the Olympic Movement, particularly the Baku-2015 first European Games.
Responding to journalist Giosetta Ciuffa’s questions, the Azerbaijani Ambassador noted that a successful public policy is carried out in the country in terms of creating all conditions for young people.
The sports sector is also in the focus of attention. The number of sports facilities in Baku and regions are being increased day by day. And all these contribute to Azerbaijani athletes achieving high results in international tournaments, the Ambassador said.
Speaking about Azerbaijan’s hosting the first European Games, Mr. Sadigov underlined that Azerbaijan was awarded the right to host the event at the 41st EOC General Assembly in Rome, in December 2012.
While it takes many years for organizing the event of this scale, Azerbaijan managed to complete preparations at the highest level in a short time, the Ambassador said.
Giving detailed information on Baku-2015, the Ambassador noted that 6 thousand athletes from 50 countries compete in 20 sports. Spectacular sport venues that meet high standards have been constructed in Baku for this purpose.
It is very important for Azerbaijan to contribute to international sports world. Azerbaijan gets the opportunity to present its tourism potential, achievements in the field of sports, culture, traditions through similar events. Baku 2015 is a social event as well. Azerbaijan is preparing to host a number of key sporting events in future, Vagif Sadigov added.
The Azerbaijani diplomat hailed the Azerbaijan’s economic development, as well as bilateral relations between the two countries.
Speaking about the tourism potential of Azerbaijan, Mr. Sadigov noted that the increase in direct flights from Rome and Milan is due to the number of visits.
The two countries officials’ reciprocal visits contribute to the strengthening of bilateral relations, he emphaszied.
