Baku. Malahat Najafova – APA. “We are aware of planned ‘elections’ in Nagorno-Karabakh and we are closely following these developments,” EU Representative for the South Caucasus Herbert Salber told APA.
Salber said these “elections” have no legal basis, noting that the EU has already expressed its view on previous similar occasions in 2010 and 2012.
“In the 2010 statement, the EU announced it does not recognize the ‘parliamentary elections’ in Nagorno-Karabakh. The statement stressed that the holding of such ‘elections’ would damage the peaceful settlement process of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict,” he said.
Salber said the EU did not recognize the presidential elections held in Nagorno-Karabakh on July 19, 2012.
