Tehran, Iran, December 15

By Mehdi Sepahvand - Trend:

Next week the Forensic Organization of Iran is going to release a toxicological report on the victims of a stampede that killed thousands of pilgrims in Saudi Arabia’s Mecca in September, an informed source has said.

Documents show that the tragedy was no incident and there were certain forces behind it, Morteza Roknabadi, brother of former Iranian ambassador to Lebanon Qazangar Roknabadi who was killed in the incident, told Trend December 15.

He said the Foreign Ministry of Iran has created a team to pursue the case of the tragedy through international regulations, adding the Saudi government should be responsible for the tragedy.

Iran Lawyers Association has also formed a group which will discuss the matter with international lawyers and try to take the case before international courts, he said.

Over 260 fatalities was Iran’s share of the lives lost in the crush that occurred on September 24 while pilgrims were performing hajj rituals in Mina, near Mecca.

Iranian officials have quoted eyewitnesses as saying that Roknabadi was carried alive by ambulance from the scene of the crush on the day.
