Staying true to its longstanding tradition, the Azerbaijan Sports Journalists Association (ASJA) has unveiled the names of winners of its sports nominations in 2015.
Azerbaijan’s first lady, Chairperson of the Baku 2015 European Games Organizing Committee Mehriban Aliyeva was announced the sports personality of the year by the ASJA.
The ASJA further named the Azerbaijan State News Agency (AzerTAc) the best news agency that has covered sports events throughout the year.
The “Team of the Year” award was won by Qarabag soccer club, the men’s national boxing team and the national taekwondo team.
Coach of the national boxing team Pedro Rogue, the Qarabag soccer club’s manager Gurban Gurbanov, and the coach of the national taekwondo team Reza Mehmandost were named the “Head Coaches of the Year”.
