Iran hopes to eliminate the main controversies with the United States at the upcoming nuclear talks in Lausanne, Switzerland, the Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi told RIA Novosti March 15.

“We still have big controversies and big gaps, and let us see if we can remove them,” he said prior to the next round of discussions on Iran’s nuclear issue.

“We have achieved some progress in the last rounds of the talks,” Araqchi added. “Let us see if we can do that again this time.”

On March 15, Lausanne will host the start of the next round of talks on Iran’s nuclear program. It is expected to last until March 19.

Bilateral ministerial talks will be held on the first three days of the talks.

In particular, on March 15, Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif will hold a bilateral meeting with the US Secretary of State John Kerry.

On March 16, Zarif will travel to Brussels to meet with German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier and French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius.

The same evening, the Iranian minister will return to Lausanne to continue talks with Kerry.

The talks are also projected to be joined a little later by political directors of the six international mediators on the Iranian nuclear program.

The parties are expected to sign a political agreement by March 24 on the settlement of the Iranian nuclear program, whereas comprehensive agreements should be reached before late June.
