Baku, June 19, AZERTAC
She might be 23 years old, but Dutch gymnast Lieke Wevers only won her first "big" medal when she took bronze in the women's individual all-around final on Thursday at the Baku 2015 European Games.
This year it has all seemed to fall into place for Lieke and her twin sister Sanne.
Sanne recently won the bronze medal on uneven bars at the 2015 European championships in Montpellier, France.
"I looked up to my sister when she won the bronze at the Europeans," Lieke said.
But she never thought she would be able to emulate her sibling by winning her first big individual medal at Baku 2015.
"I just can't believe it. I'm very happy," said Lieke, who also won bronze in the team competition. "It's very funny that it all happens at the same time, the same year."
Sanne followed the competition from home, where she watched the live stream of the event and followed reports on Twitter.
"We have Skype conversations every day. She really motivates me," Lieke said.
Lieke will also compete in beam and floor apparatus finals at the National Gymnastics Arena on Saturday.
