Baku, June 19, AZERTAC
Russia's Vitaly Fokeev won shooting gold in the men's double trap event on Friday, clinching his first major title for nine years.
The world no.10 defeated Richard Bognar at the Baku Shooting Centre, outscoring the Hungarian 29-26.
"Since the 2006 world championship, this is the first gold in a big, great tournament that I have got," said Fokeev.
"It is great to put this gold medal into my collection and look at them every day as much as I can. It is just priceless."
Fokeev also earned a men's double trap place for Russia at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
There was controversy earlier when Germany's Andreas Loew blamed a timekeeper for denying him a possible place in the final.
Loew, who lost the bronze medal match to world no.2 Antonino Barilla of Italy, received two yellow cards in his semi-final and a resulting double penalty after twice taking longer than 12 seconds to complete his shots.
Despite hitting all 30 targets, his score was 28 and he missed out on a final place by one shot.
Loew said he got the first yellow as he rearranged his position and time was running out and he was told by the referee to shoot again.
He said he was still talking to the referee while the time was again running down and he was given another yellow.
"I had already shot the targets and hit both," Loew said. "It wasn't a mistake from the main referee, it was a mistake from the guy who was counting the clock because I was still talking and he was pressing the button."
